Artist's Talk with Photographer Jym Wilson
Join us for an artist's talk by photographer Jym Wilson! He will discuss his work as a photo editor for USA Today and his transition into more personal art during retirement. Jym will show samples of his work and answer questions in an open Q&A session. Free and open to the public!
Jym WIlson moved to Springfield, MO in 2019 from Washington D.C., where he worked as aphoto editor specializing in entertainment coverage for USA Today. His career in photography began in Burlington, Vermont in the late 1970s.
His personal work depicts the presence of life without people being physically present in his photographs.
Jym is influenced by the photographs of W. Eugene Smith, Arnold Newman, Annie Liebovitz, Sebastio Salgado, Diane Arbus, and dozens of others. He is inspired by the music and artistic integrity of Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell, Patty Griffin, and Townes Van Zandt, and the paintings of Edward Hopper.
